April 27, 2010 - California Department of Financial Institutions Commissioner Bill Haraf joined Bank of the West's employees and CFO, Duke Dayal, and Operation HOPE staff to educate 230 students at Gordon J. Lau Elementary School, located in San Francisco’s Chinatown neighborhood. Students learned the importance of saving on April 27th, ABA’s Teach Children to Save Day.

April 22, 2010 - Alana Golden, DFI Public Information Officer/Consumer Outreach Director, discusses making saving a habit with students from Westlake Charter School, Sacramento, CA. Activities with three second grade classes included a book reading, "The Adventures of Sammy the Saver in Will Sammy Ride the World's First Space Coaster?", group discussion on earning, saving, sharing and wants vs. needs, and a poster activity.

April 27, 2009 - Teach Children to Save Day - California Department of Financial Institutions Commissioner William S. Haraf joined Bank of the West's CAO Paul Woolway and Operation HOPE in educating 135 students at John Yehall Chin Elementary School in San Francisco. In all, Bank of the West and its non-profit partners helped empower over 800 area youth with financial knowledge.

Sammy the rabbit and Sam Renick, author of the book, "It's A Habit, Sammy Rabbit!" visit Lakenheath Elementary School Feb. 21 to teach children how to be financially responsible.
