Controller to Host Financial Literacy Fair
State Controller John Chiang is hosting the Controller's first Financial Literacy Fair. The free event, to be held April 2 on the north side of the State Capitol in Sacramento, is part of the ongoing effort to promote awareness of financial literacy and help Californians improve their personal financial skills, learn the importance of financial planning, and empower their families and communities.
Members of the banking and financial services industries, education, consumer protection and community-based organizations are helping to tackle the challenge of empowering all Californians through improved financial skills.
Department of Financial Institutions will participate in the event and provide information on California Financial Literacy Month (CAFLM) activities and resources. This years CAFLM theme is "Start learning today for a strong financial tomorrow: Financial Literacy: It Pays." For more information on CAFLM, visit the DFI Web site http://www.dfi.ca.gov/.
